Living Out Of Suitcases (Again)
Well, the last box was packed today. Altogether we’ve got 40 boxes, big and small, going back up to Chicago. That’s nothing to the 400+ boxes we have in storage right now!
So, tomorrow (Monday), the movers come to take it all away. It took about 3 weeks for Chicago to come to PR, so I’m guessing it will take the same amount of time to get back. Some of our stuff has really gone for a world tour: My Folio books come from London, to Chicago, down to PR, and now back up to Chicago again. Quite a trip!
Evelyn’s last work day is also tomorrow (her “weekend” days are Tue/Wed), though she’ll probably have to go in on Wednesday for the final paperwork. After that, we’ll spend the next week just being tourists and saying goodbye to people.
It’s a bit sad to be moving on, mainly because there are a number of people I’m really going to miss. However, the decision to move down here in the first place was much more difficult that the decision to move back. While I treasure the friendships I’ve made done here, this place just isn’t right for us at this time, if ever. Come on, Puerto Rico! Get your act together!

Well, Puerto Rico can go one of two ways one day — become a state, which would be hard becuause the Federal goverenment would dismantle the nanny state that exists there; or go indpendent and then they would be in the same boat as the Domincan Republic or Haiti. With those options, they’ll stay a bloated commonwealth forever, subsidizng their workers while the U.S. subsidizes them. Guess that Marx was wrong afterall…
Ron, this is Keerthi. Hello. I am very happy that you are coming back. I have informed Mister Bruce Merevick and we are having a party. You can come too. Bring the Ruffles potato chips.
Keerthi, this is Ron. I think that is a wonderful idea. We can drive around in his Corvette and visit all of our old friends. Of course, the Corvette only seats two, so one of us will get to sit in Bruce’s lap!
Perhaps we can even find all the old consultants and have a reunion. I wonder if that Delphi Dude is around (not the good one, but the bad one–the one who thought his computer was broken because we unpluged his network cable). Ha-Ha-Ha.
Ron and Keerthi, I would be driving so you two would have to sit in each other’s lap!!!
