I think it really showed how bad school was that I still got all A's with 25+ days absent...or how SMRT I am :-P I think people thrive on drama and feeling like their world is about to end. You look at the record and you see that the antarctic was a frickin rain forest at one time (there's a good graphic in this months Wired). Whatever the reason, I think that we're smart enough primates to figure out how to survive. We build climate controlled environments. We do some eco-engineering. We develop new tech to solve the problems. I just get sick of people saying WE'RE DOOMED -- like NOBODY is going to do ANYTHING about the problem. Screw that. LOL. Because perfect attendance = SMRT. Whatever the reason, I think that we’re smart enough primates to figure out how to survive. We build climate controlled environments. We do some eco-engineering. We develop new tech to solve the problems. I just get sick of people saying WE’RE DOOMED — like NOBODY is going to do ANYTHING about the problem. Screw that.

In other words, the Earth has been a hell of lot hotter and more tropical in the not too distant past, and we could be ending a natural cold period in Earth's history. Of course, it is easier to panic than to go out and educate yourself. As a side rant to poor education -- Maybe if the CPS was busy teaching kids and not bribing them with cars for a lousy three months of perfect attendance, things might be a little better.
